Version III embossers
NOTE! For Index Version III Embossers you need WinBraille in
order to upgrade the firmware in the Embosser.
Install WinBraille and
select "Embosser Utility..." from the Tools menu.

When to upgrade the firmware
Before starting to upgrade the firmware it is important to check if it
is necessary.
- The embosser is equipped with wrong speech feedback language
- If the embosser has a software problem
- If the embosser firmware is not compatible with WinBraille
- If there is a hardware upgrade on your embosser that require new version
of firmware

How to know the firmware version?
After power on the embosser will echo "model name"
and "firmware version".
Where to find the serial number?
The serial number and the model name can be found on the serial number
label. Following table gives the location:

Firmware Wizard
To download the latest firmware version, you should use the Firmware
Wizard.
If you have WinBraille installed in your system, you should run the "Download
firmware" option, which can be found at WinBraille program Folder.
This Wizard will download the latest software from Index web site or from
the CD 2002 if you do not have an Internet connection.

- All Basic-D/S serial number between 20100 up to 30000
- Everest serial number between 12060 up to 30000, March 96
- All 4X4 PRO up to 30000
3-bit/4-bit is related to the type of speech feedback, the
functionality is identical
- 3-bit speech serial number below 15000
- 4-bit speech serial number between 15000 up to 30000
