ALVA 544 Satellite Traveler - The world at your fingertips

From screen to braille
For a
blind or visually impaired computer user, the braille display replaces the
computer video monitor and mouse. Text is converted into a tactile
alphabet (braille), on a row of 44 braille cells. The information
presented in the cells is refreshed in order to display another portion of
the screen. The unique Satellite key concept enables the user to issue
reading, navigation and related commands directly from the ALVA Satellite
544 Traveler. Productivity is increased by minimizing hand movement
between the braille display and computer keyboard.
Universal Compatibility
The
ALVA 544 Satellite Traveller braille display can be readily integrated
with most popular operating systems, hardware platforms, graphical screen
readers, and speech synthesizers. The ergonomic design of the operating
keys, buttons and switches are optimized for use in a variety of computing
environments.
USB
and serial connections enable versatile and high-speed connectivity to the
host computer.
Enhanced ergonomic
design
The
philosophy behind the ALVA Satellite 544 Traveler's enhanced ergonomic
design stems from the desire to have as much computer functionality
directly from the braille display as possible. Every key, button and
braille cells are smoothly coated and elegantly provide tactile feedback
when pressed or toggled. The ALVA 544 Satellite Traveler is easy to
transport and easy to use anywhere.
