Introducing the Dolphin Pen
Dolphin Computer Access products Supernova, Hal, Lunar and Lunar
Plus are now available to order in two separate editions: the PC
Edition or the new Dolphin Pen Edition.
Using the Dolphin Pen means that users of Dolphin Computer Access
software can carry their software with them and instantly run it on
any Dolphin Pen Friendly PC, as if it were their own
home system. Crucially, this means that the individual user’s
settings are automatically applied to the system. As soon as the
Dolphin Pen is removed, the software is no longer running and the PC
is ready for another user to insert their Dolphin Pen and have their
software running, with their own personal settings applied.
Convenience
Unlike other screen access solutions, the Dolphin Pen is not
installed on the PC, but instead runs from a USB Pen Drive – a small
portable device, just a few centimetres long, which plugs straight
into the USB port of a computer.
The convenient size means that a user can carry their Dolphin Pen
in their handbag or pocket, and run their access software on any
Dolphin Pen Friendly PC, without the need to configure
settings each time, as all user configurations are saved back to the
Dolphin Pen.
"Dolphin Pen Friendly"
The Dolphin Pen is simple to use on any Dolphin Pen
Friendly PC. It takes just a couple of minutes to make a PC
Dolphin Pen Friendly. Once this is done, to run the
software, simply insert the pen into a spare USB slot.
Schools, universities, Internet cafés, offices and libraries can
welcome people with a visual impairment to use their computers by
taking part in the Dolphin Pen Friendly programme.
This means that any Dolphin Pen users can access the organisation’s
PCs instantly.
There are many different types of sight problem and many
different preferences for computer users. Naturally, the choices
with Dolphins access products are just as diverse: large print,
small print, high contrast colours, screen brightness, fast speech,
slow speech, Braille and many more. If computers are Dolphin
Pen Friendly, users can walk up to any computer and run
their Dolphin Pen without the need for any configuration or
assistance whatsoever.
To make a PC Dolphin Pen Friendly, all that is
required is to install the Dolphin Interceptor, which includes the
Microsoft DCM (Display Chain Manager). If a PC is not Dolphin
Pen Friendly, the first time the Dolphin Pen is inserted
into a PC; the user simply needs to load the Dolphin Interceptor
(This may require some sighted assistance). Once this has been done,
the computer is instantly Dolphin Pen Friendly and the
next time that a Dolphin Pen is inserted, the Dolphin software will
run automatically.

from
this link so PC’s can be made Dolphin Pen
Friendly without having a Dolphin Pen.
A package to suit your needs
There are four types of license available from Dolphin:
• PC Licence (Excl. Dolphin Pen)
Includes full CD for installation on computers you own. May not be
taken “home from school” or taken to work (unless purchased by the
employer).
• Pen Licence
Pen only licence - no installation required. Can be added to
existing PC licence as an additional licence.
• Home & School or Home & Work licence
Includes full CD for home installation plus Dolphin Pen for people
on the go!
• Education Licence
Includes full CD for use at school, plus a Dolphin Pen for every
student to carry with them, either for homework or to class.
The following Dolphin products are available as the Dolphin Pen

Your System
The Dolphin Pen works with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Home and XP
Professional.
Where the Dolphin Interceptor is not
pre-loaded on the computer it can be run in one quick step directly
from the Dolphin Pen, although administrator rights and some sighted
assistance may be required
for the first time you run your Dolphin Pen on a new computer.
The USB ports must be enabled on any PCs that the Dolphin Pen is
to be used on.
Minimum system requirements:
- Windows 2000, Windows XP Home & Windows XP Professional.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer v5 or later.
- Intel P2 400 MHz equivalent or higher, 125 MB free hard disk
space, 128 MB Memory or higher.
- PCI or AGP graphics card (not "on-board" - Windows Hardware
Compatibility List approved).
- Sound Blaster compatible sound card (not "on-board").
- USB port (USB 2.0 recommended).
