WinBraille -
Free, powerful,
fully Windows based braille
editor for Windows, exclusively for Index Embossers.
Powerful Braille Editor
WinBraille can be used without prior Braille knowledge. It
converts computer documents to literary or contracted Braille.
The trouble to set up old DOS type Braille editors is now history.
WinBraille controls the embosser in the same way as MS word controls you
laser printer.
Braille and Formatting
WinBraille supports translation to contracted and un-contracted
Braille for more than thirty languages. The advanced user can create
Braille translation support for local languages and make individual
rules for Braille translation and formatting.
WinBraille provides advanced formatting features required for Braille
document production such as header and footer handling, table and bullet
formatting, hyphenation etc.
Tactile Braille Graphics
WinBraille includes standard Windows image control and the unique
feature to convert images to tactile graphic format on-line. Braille
text can be pasted into any position utilizing the increased graphical
resolution (0.5 mm). Supported image formats: BMP, TIF, WMF, PNG, JPG,
JPEG, GIF and SIG.
Windows Support
WinBraille supports embossing of existing Windows documents of
the most common formats such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat
PDF, Microsoft Outlook, Internet pages and ordinary text documents.
Images in Microsoft Word documents can be translated to tactile pictures
and included in the braille text.
Full Network Support Included
Connect the Index Braille embosser to your network as a standard network
printer and share it between all users through WinBraille, which is free
of charge.
Imagine a blind school with a number of teachers and blind pupils. Using
WinBraille opens the window to emboss on to the network, directly from
their individual computers. Compare this with traditional embossers
without network support and the cost for multiple user licenses on
commercial Braille editors.
Personal Setup
During installation you select standard set-up for your country
including for example paper size, Braille translation and formatting
rules. Save your personal WinBraille set-up in a file for backup and for
making identical WinBraille installations on other computers. The
network administrator can perform software maintenance of the WinBraille
installations on all clients directly from the server.
